Started watching the new #foldingideas video about #metaverse and I realized how absurd it is that Zuck renamed his whole company after a plot device from Snow Crash.

How does anyone read that book and the only takeaway they get is "we need to build the metaverse"? It's very clearly supposed to be a dystopian invention. Do people actually read this book and think the franchises and the mafia are the good guys?
