This is the best story I've read this past year. A Hugo Award winning epistolary story that takes the form of an online forum discussion about a (fictional) folk ballad. Combines the appeal of the best real folk ballads and the best creepypasta.

A must read for anyone interested in #folklore, #folkballads, #traditionalsongs, #FolkHorror, #creepypasta, or #weirdfiction.

In "The Twa Sisters" or "The Cruel Sister," the elder sister is courted by a man clearly in love with the younger sister. Consumed with jealousy, the elder murders the younger by pushing her into the sea.

When the younger sister's corpse washes ashore, she is found by musicians who fashion an instrument out of her bones. At the elder sister's wedding feast, the instrument begins to play itself and tell the story of the murder.
