Someone handed me this during the MLK day parade.

Id never heard of Manglier tea, does anyone know what it is?

Edit: So, after a bit of research I think this is Baccharis halmifolia, known in creole as "manglier" (a misnomer as this is not a true mangrove, though it grows in similar environments).

A tea of the plant has aparently been used in creole folk medicine for treating inflamed kidneys, fever and flu.

Jelly Ears! So named as they look suspiciously similar to human ears!

They are usually a brown/red/purply-pink colour and covered in tiny grey hairs that make them look velvety.

They can be eaten but are usually added to meals for textures sake rather than taste! Although it does have folk medicinal uses too - as part of a poultice on an eye injury or to sooth a sore throat!

A very cool little fun-guy 😎
