Good morning, fair folk of Mastodon. May the sun shine upon you.
I give you, today, Home Boys Home:
Yeah, it's not Tom Holland dancing to Umbrella â it's a Bulgarian choir singing a #folkSong. I realise it doesn't sound exactly appealing, but bloody HELL, it's amazing.
Give it a couple of minutes of your time and share widely. And if it blows your mind like it blows mine, check out Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares on your music source of choice.

'Voices must always remain unheard until they speak, and disrupt what can otherwise only be an imagining.'
Reading David Simpson's (1992) evaluation of Raymond Williams's legacy, and this lil sentence struck me. Simpson is talking about Williamsâs style of communication and valuation of the individual voice; but it reminded me of Si Kahnâs line â
âIt's not the fights you dreamed of
It's those you really foughtâ

"Gotta Travel On" is an American #folksong. The earliest known version was printed in #CarlSandburg's #TheAmericanSongbag in 1927 under the title "Yonder Comes the High Sheriff" and several variations were recorded in the 1920s, but the best known version is credited to #PaulClayton, #TheWeavers, Larry Ehrlich, and Dave Lazer and was first recorded by #PeteSeeger in 1958.A cover by #BillyGrammer reached #4 on the #USPopChart, #5 on the #USCountryChart.

Had the best day yesterday showing a fantastic group of students from the University of Basil around Highland Perthshire, introducing them to the Scottish Folk Revival.
My highlight was discussing Gramsci with them outside of Hamish Henderson's childhood home đ¤Š
Not sure if I'm allowed to share group photos, so here I am in Glen Shee expertly identifying their mini bus as it came up the road đ

"Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" is a #folkSong written by American singer-songwriter #PeteSeeger in 1955. Inspired lyrically by the traditional #Cossack folk song "Koloda-Duda", Seeger borrowed an Irish melody for the music, and published the first three verses in #SingOut magazine. Additional verses were added in May 1960 by #JoeHickerson, who turned it into a circular song. Its rhetorical "where?".
