Wishing tree on the path up Ben A'an, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

There is a tradition in Scotland of inserting coins into the stumps of old trees as votive offerings, and some can contain coins that are hundreds of years old. The folk wisdom goes that if your coin falls out, your wish will not come true.
