Anyone have good alternatives for #roon ?

I’ve had a subscription with them for 6 years now. Kinda getting tired of the cost:benefit ratio.

What I do like: Metadata, organization of the library contents, decent UI, mobile app support (Roon more than ARC, but ARC is ok)

What I don’t really need or like: Remote playing (controlling other speakers in the house), paying Tidal if I want good recommendations, kinda bloated and slow app

I’ve used plenty of #vlc , #foobar, #clementine / #strawberry, even #amarok back in the day

I’m really looking for any music solution that’s a little bit of a media manager w/metadata, especially if it can manage all that on a server.

I don’t mind paying for services, I’m just tired of the Roon bills on top of streaming services too.

Like - I want less than Roon but more than VLC.

Any recommendations?

@ScotHomestead @forte @randynose @jond @mike Tusky here. I think it probably gives you hashtags that match what you've entered, most used first. What it should do, if #foobar is most used and #FooBar is in the list, is give you the latter. (Unless #FoobAr is in the list, too.)

@philcolbourn unique words that are attached to #, so #foo, #foobar, #thisisahashtag, #wallyworld, etc...

Just finished adding #nagios checks to #foobar and added #elasticsearch to make finding things on this instance easier.

Next I'm debating if I should enable S3 or not so that videos won't kill my hdd space.

I think there is a #mastodonbug - if I search for a hashtag, it often doesn't find it, but it does find tags that extend it. For example, if I search for '#foo' I get ''#foo2', '#foobar' and others, but not '#foo' itself. But it works when I just edit the URL.

Irgendwann vor wenigen Tagen? (Wochen? Geht so schnell im Alter) war hier die Rede von #Musik bei der #Arbeit. Dachte, das wäre @kuketzblog gewesen, finds aber jetzt nicht mehr wieder. Ich hab bequeme TV-Kopfhörer, und Standmikros für die Meetings, und höre, wenn ich nicht allein bin, immer Musik zwischen Meetings. Hilft mir beim #Entspannen und #daempft die externen Störgeräusche. Außerdem übertönt es das Kalkrieseln. Auf Linux experimentiere ich noch. Auf Windows dient mir #foobar hierfür am besten. Es spielt viele Formate ab, ist erweiterbar, und spielt nur die Audiospur, egal, von welchem Format.

@jonny @agora thank you, yes, I have it on my todo list to make it so that #FooBar == [[foo bar]]. Adding #foo_bar to the mix!

About the default agora bot experience: did you feel pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised when it started responding to hashtags? I've implemented opt-in on Twitter, if you think this is too eager we could change the default here as well :)

hashtag in Mastdon's syntax is similar to twitter's one.
It would be more better if imitate weibo's hashtag. For example, #foobar#.
In some language, like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, space is not nessesary to separate words.
