Another disappointment was the lack of concern for my kids' #FoodAllergies.

My family is well aware of my kids' allergies & still they can't resist having certain main dishes that contain my kids' allergens, or else they don't bother keeping ingredient labels on prepared foods so we can check for ourselves. 

I don't expect the world to bend over backwards for my kids' allergies, but I don't think a little sensitivity from FAMILY is asking too much. But I guess it IS expecting too much. 😪

Is there a #FoodAllergyDon or anything? #FoodAllergies are a huge part of my life.
Super annoying. Developed in my late 30s. Seeming “not” related to my hypothyroidism diagnosis in my early 40s. #FoodAllergyList (i eat some of these foods on the regular and have no plans to stop).

As of yesterday, I've been cleared to eat anything that says "may contain peanuts" in the allergen label, but still can't eat anything that straight up contains peanuts. So I looked at the candy at a local grocery store, and grabbed what I could find that meets that criteria.

These are the ones I gathered! I'll be trying each of them for the first time throughout the day, and I'll give my thoughts on each one in this thread. (1/7)

I have carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and severe nut allergies.

Chocolate almond milk burst out of a suction sip cup that's like the real cups all over my wrist.

My CTS is acting up from creating eggs for my cousin's Ostara event.

The rash formed where CTS most affects me.

Except, unlike CTS is normally, my hands feel bruised. The rash feels deeper than my skin's surface.

It's so painful I've cried a few times -- an ache that isn't alleviated through elevation or painkillers. #foodallergies

People with food issues: my absolute favorite app is FIG (FoodIsGood) https://foodisgood.com/

It has the catalog of most major grocery stores, and you can customize it with your specific #allergens. Not only does it grab the really obvious ones (cornstarch, for me), but the ones where if you're being really careful you should probably think twice (veg oil may contain corn oil). You can also scan item barcodes or just search.

Totally worth it.

After a harrowing few years when it seems that every baking company was adding sesame to their products, the FDA declared sesame to be a major allergen, affecting 1.6 million Americans who have a sesame allergy, (yes, I am one of them). But companies have found a legal workaround to simply removing sesame from their products., I call it a loophole. Still the three major markets in my area, all of their name brand bread products contain sesame.
