How to nudge less meat in diets? A tax is one option; I much enjoyed this paper by Perino & Schwickert (no idea if either are here) showing people are more likely to support a tax on meat if it is related to animal welfare than climate change.

Animals are part of the nexus, and improving farm animal welfare is part of the solution.

@8bitpal That's great! Some years ago, a friend set herself a challenge to eat only domestically produced food (Finland). It's a great way to be conscious of what you are eating and where it comes from.

After just checking ingredients, then one can see how far down the rabbit hole to go with issues like imported feed fed to the dairy cows, sources of fertiser used in the fields, etc.

We cannot tackle climate change without making our #foodsystems greener, fairer, & healthier. The reverse is also true. To have dignified lives with access to healthy diets, we need to reduce emissions.

So focusing purely on productivity is terribly shortsighted.

I look into the latest SOFI report which gives an indication of global hunger levels and whether we are on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2 - “Zero Hunger”.

The overall news is grim but perhaps surprisingly, there are some good news.

“We could afford to feed everyone” is a phrase I see bandied about, and it seems plausible, certainly at the level of a country like the United States. I started thinking about how I’d plug the numbers in to get a rough feasibility estimate, but it occurred to me someone must have done this already, surely.

Are there reports by agencies or interested wonks that have studied the rough feasibility of just feeding everyone?
