The beautifully preserved historic village of Fordyce in northern Aberdeenshire, whose origins go back some 1400 years to the foundation of a church here by the Pictish saint, St Tarlarican (or St Tarquin). Geology emeritus Professor Ewan Fordyce from Otago University has had a penguin named after him. The 57 million year old penguin, the world's largest weighing in at 150kg, is henceforth known as Kumimanu fordycei.
