You may have seen some of my #sunset #photographs before and, yes, it’s the same #horizon and the same old #Sun but this one caught my eye because of its sharpness. There wasn’t a cloud in the vicinity of the Sun when it was setting. You can see the bright, smoothly varying #yellow, #gold and #orange of the #sky contrasting the dark, sharp #silhouettes of the #trees in the #foreground. Also there’s that mobile phone mast too. Today’s #sunset is typical of clear days in #January, the #colours are pale. In the #foreground are the #silhouettes of a couple of #birds in the #treetops.

This morning I posted a moonset. It has largely been a #sunny #day and as #sunset approaches, I #photographed the #Sun, which led to #silhouettes in the #foreground and plenty of #LensFlare. Still cold out there with the #temperature a couple of degrees above #freezing but bone dry.

How can you capture the essence of #fog in a photograph? I often associate it with dull #greys but when the #Sun's #light is diffusing through it, it adds some #colour which attenuates quite smoothly into the familiar gloom. But I do also like the layering effect of the #foreground, #middleground and #background with objects disappearing into the #haze.

A #day can a difference. Yesterday’s #sunset was following a very settled day but today there were showers at the end of the day and so the #sky was a bit more dramatic. You could say it was more “atmospheric”, dramatically anyway. The framing makes the #cloud in the #foreground look a bit menacing but in reality it was quite high and the showers had passed.

I'm looking for an #algorithm that can take apart a #foreground of it's #background in a video.
I'd use it to #track a rider going downhill on a road so the foreground is a rider that is as much as possible at the center of the image and the background can be both a dense forest or a treeless mountain-top.
My goal is to make a two axis (row, pitch) brush-less stabilizer that can aim at the rider in order to correct the last (yow) axis.
I can't rely on the foreground color/shape.
