Return of museum items to countries of origin:

I wonder what would be the best way to make quality copies of the artifacts which are returned to their owners, to still be able to display them in the returning countries' museums, or make them available for study.

Holograms do not really show texture, and copies of bronzes or even woodwork are too expensive to make.
