@rive also since weāre talking about that right now, letās just take a moment to think about the fact that probably garg is a huge cunt for becoming popular off the backs of lgbtq, POC and other vulnerable peopleās desire to have a social network that isnāt hell and then go āI donāt give a shit about what you want, I am the one who is the dictator of the projectā.
Howās #forktogether working out, I wonder?
This all loops right back to what I originally envisioned when showing interest in #ForkTogether - ActivityPub, in and of itself, is not *enough*. We're already seeing interoperability concerns around basic things like 'how to handle/identify DMs' between otherwise federated, AP-compatible systems.
We need a working specification that defines things above and beyond ActivityPub, that we can agree and work on independently of a specific software project.
@maloki Just want to say I agree with most all of these

@QBFreak Some good points there. Trying to get particular changes to Mastodon is pretty much a losing battle at this point, though, which is why I'm thinking a bot solution is more tractable.
I'll maybe put this on the #ForkTogether wiki, though, as something to consider.

...which is kind of a ridiculous way to make important decisions.
I guess I always had the idea of some kind of fork or replacement for Masto as a project in my queue, long before #ForkTogether.
I'm also very used to *my* ideas being dismissed, so I guess I just have a sort of reflexive diversionary Fine -- One Of These Days, I'll Write My Own reaction whenever someone else's good idea is dismissed.
@hoodie@dev.glitch.social Wasted effort, seems to me.
I'd save it for when #ForkTogether has a git repo.
Does anyone know of a Code of Conduct which assumes experience is subjective and focuses on how to reduce negative interactions cooperatively?
All the ones I come across focus on particular acts, and rely on bureacracy/admins for resolution.

@phessler You could also wait with updating until the anti-discovery crowd around #forktogether has their fork uploaded somewhere. This would ensure you always get a version without any follow recommendations, trending hashtags, etc.
