It's #tunetuesday from @Kitty today, and the prompt is #ForMoviesSake from @sharazluke : songs that are negatively impacted by a movie, not 'ruined' per se.

So I submit one of my least favorite, overplayed love songs: Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. It was the theme for An Officer and a Gentleman, and I am SO SICK OF IT. It was, and is, horribly overplayed and saccharine as hell. There are a lot of these, but this is the one that gets my goat.

I don't know if it could be a feasible interpretation, but the first thing I thought is... Armageddon.

Yeah, the movie with meteorites, explosions, every kind of (astro)physics laws thrashed like a punching bag, Liv Tyler, America-Saves-The-Day, crying audiences etc.

For this week's #tunetuesday, the topic is #ForMoviesSake. There are several contenders, but I've chosen 'Dust in the Wind' sung by Will Ferrell in the movie 'Old School.' The movie isn't particularly bad, but every time I hear this rather moody song, I can't help but remember its silly rendition in the film.

Thinking this through, a song has to be good in the first place to be ruined by a movie. This might be a bit of a stretch, since the song was, AFAIK, written for the movie, but it’s a very well made pop song; Celine Dion is a magnificent vocalist, but this is (for me) the textbook example of overplay. This song was literally inescapable.

I don't really have anything for this. I only tend to remember music used in movies if it's done well; and even if I did remember any inappropriate choices, I can't imagine it would ruin the song for me. Not how my brain works.

So, if nobody minds, I'm going to bend the rules a bit, and pick a song that I always and immediately associate with a film (but a film and a song I love, it's not ruined, it's just changing my experience).

And it's a really obvious one.

Nach einigem Überlegen ist es nun #LinkinPark geworden. Jedes Mal, wenn ich das Lied höre, muss ich an die unsägliche Knutschszene von Shia LaBeauf und Megan Fox auf Bumblebee in #Transformers denken. Generell ist der ganze Film unsäglich - ja, er ist nicht so schlimm wie die Fortsetzungen, aber das heißt nicht automatisch (höhö, Auto), dass er gut ist.
