It's cheaper to get MEDEVAC'd from the USA to Germany than to stay a single night in a U.S. hospital even if one had to foot the bill 100% due to being uninsured.

Because for the cost of an ambulance ride in the USA one.can stay in a hospital bed in Germany for a week.

That's all due to a #ForProfitHealthcare system, not because labour is more expensive or some other bs.

What's this? The #provinces are being snakey? Thankfully someone is keeping their eyes on them.

This was the first appointment post-ER, to try to determine what was wrong. He had just turned 17. Today he is 19 and, thanks to a nearly two year battle with the insurance, overcome only by moving to the other side of the state, we are still at the beginning. @gemelliz Having lived in both US and Canada, please believe me Canadians should not want the US system. It's cruel and barbaric. Both US political parties fully support this for-profit system, backed of course by the political donations of for profit health insurers.

In Canada, these cynical efforts always begin with "but the wait times! and hey, we should have a tiered system!". It's a trojan horse. This is private health insurers propaganda, always.

The #ForProfitHealthCare in this country is absolute #Bullshit. Why does #Healthcare cost so much? Private insurance. Why does the government pay so much for Medicaid and Medicare every year? They're administered by Private Insurance. Did you know insurance companies have been telling doctors to "find" more health issues for older patients so they can tell the government they're treating that to get paid more by the government? Government run insurance is not the problem. It's private insurance.

@BobM I must say that we Americans excel at this very thing. Plus, programs like Medicare, for people over 65, don’t cover services that are most needed by seniors, like hearing aids and dental care. And are so-called Medicare Advantage plans are only useful if you never get sick. They are run by big Insurance to cash in on seniors who don’t understand that. #Healthcare #ForProfitHealthcare
