New batch of Insectivore mix delivered. I add this supplement to reduce calcium deficiencies. Pushy rocked up with a limp last year. It could have been an injury, more likely the 8 offspring have resulted in calcium leaching weakening her bones.
Magpies are insectivores and absorb insect calcium via shell casings for strong bones.

#Borgarvirki in #Vatnsnes peninsula, northwest #Iceland is a 177m (580ft) volcanic plug that, according to the Icelandic saga, used to have military purposes and was used as a #fortress in around 1000 AD. There are steps that lead to the top. This is a lovely, panoramic view from the top with the man-made #fortification walls in the foreground.

Russian forces use dragon's teeth fortifications and dig trenches, essentially moats, to try to stop Ukrainian advances.
It makes sense, but the phrase “dragon’s teeth and moats” makes me feel like we’re in another century.
