Some people think that "Together Alone" was Crowded House's masterpiece, but I have always appreciated their first album more, messy as it is. And this is the strongest, a powerful, moody piece about suicide, from a child's vantage point, leaving unanswered questions. Rarely bettered.

Singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Seymour says of the song “I wanted to write a song to serve up this idea that regardless of what happens, you’ve got to stay true to the quest”

It’s a tale of triumph amidst adversity. To signify the players quest to win the Aussie Rules footy cup, Holy Grail was sung at four Grand Finals in 1998, 2002, 2009 and 2013

Punk was about high energy and The Exploited depict that here in their live performance. #FortnightFridayMusic is about Punk and by 1981 it was all but dead, despite what they’re singing

Old Man Kensey wants to be a goalie
But first he's gotta learn to count
He's gonna be a clown on a circus mount

1985 was when I first heard of a lot of bands, and REM was one of them; this was probably their first album I got. It was a little weird, but a lot of it grew on me. The lyrics are deceptively simplistic, though they've got lots of parallelism, and the music is in a mournful minor key. Poor Old Man Kensey, is he ever gonna get to be anything other than a clown?
