I've long suspected that the whole point of #nolabels and #forwardparty is the hold the democratic party hostage with the ransom being tax cuts and a "grand bargain" on Medicare and social security.

I agree generally with what you have to say but The Forward Party's strategy is to NOT attempt to marshall a national candidate for POTUS, so as not to dilute the Dem vote, but to focus its efforts on local/state politics which, if successful, could lead to a Dem/Forward alliance that can thwart the Repubs by joining left leaning Dems/with left leaning & middle of the road Independents together.

So, it's different than just a standard 3rd party strategy.

Just heard about the "Forward Party" on Channel 2 -- the local Fox News Channel.

"Not Left. Not Right. Forward."

As a left leaning independent, I like the idea and hope they are successful in gaining "party status" in CA and other states that they've targeted.

Andrew Yang is involved w/the organization which is enough for me to be interested.

If they are successful, I seriously consider registering as a member of their party, as long as I don't lose the right to vote for a viable candidate in local/state races.

That's probably their greatest barrier to adoption/success in CA which does NOT have open primary elections, which is something they support along w/ranked choice voting, both of which I also support.
