For today’s notes, I used my Jinhao 82. It’s my first Jinhao, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I was not expecting much for this price, but it writes very well and the EF nib feels smooth. Also, the converter that came with it is one of the best I have.

It’s inked with Pilot Iroshizuku Tsukushi (土筆). It’s one of my favourite brown inks with Diamine Saddle Brown, and it matches the colour of the barrel exactly! (The picture is not very good sadly.)

My little book, my fountain pen, and one of the brushes I’m using with last night’s doodle… I stitched my little book with a Coptic binding and no cover so that it opens flat, making it easy to draw in all the way to the binding. It’s funny how when I sit down to draw, I usually start with a feeling that I have no idea how to do it, but by the time I finish a page of drawings it’s much easier than when I started. Life is like that sometimes.

I sewed a little book out of Tomoe River paper, which is very smooth and designed for ink. Now I have a place to draw some doodles with my new green fountain pen so they don’t end up on random slips of paper all over the house. I chose this particular Robert Oster fountain pen ink because it shows more than one value when you write. Plus, it easily rewets when you draw over it with itself or water. So I can get lots of different values out of the one bottle of ink. #FountainPen #ink #doodle

Impressions: Realo’s piston is quite smooth, designed well and easy to take apart. Music nib is very wet and quite fun. The Ink of Witch is a very dark purple with gold sheen. I think in broader nibs it works better, I’d imagine that in finer nibs it just looks like black.
