Accidentally bought two samples of Private Reserve’s Black Cherry x I had one categorized as red & the other as purple (it’s a complicated color, ok?). Had just enough space in the sample tubes to consolidate into one, so now I have space for more ink samples!

Impressions: Realo’s piston is quite smooth, designed well and easy to take apart. Music nib is very wet and quite fun. The Ink of Witch is a very dark purple with gold sheen. I think in broader nibs it works better, I’d imagine that in finer nibs it just looks like black.

I love flex nibs, so I have a whole bunch of flex & flex-adjacent pens. They’ve been arranged top-to-bottom from my absolute favourite to my least favourite, with samples of each on TR 52gm².

I added a touch too much Railroad X into the Jinhao’s converter, which has caused it to bleed a bit. Blaze Orange is usually a similar colour to Róka Koma, but the more RR-X you add, the lighter it gets. It certainly flows much, much better now 🤣

Anxiety haiku

I adore pickled beets. I especially adore the color of pickled beet brine. If I were to ask you to recommend a #fountainpenink that is the color of beets, beet juice, or pickled beet brine, what would you suggest for my #fountainpens? The component of beets that gives them their color is betanin, and its exact shade is pH-dependent. The acid of pickling beets makes them a deep red color that tends toward magenta.

#FountainPen friends, I have a _lot_ (in the neighborhood of 400?) of Col-o-ring swatches that I would like to reorganize into something other than rings.
I _think_ I might like to have them by hue rather than the alphabetical I do now.
With their 2" x 4" form factor, is there anything like a baseball card sleeve or business card sleeve that works in a binder? I'm not keen on re-swatching all of them...

Inky time with Diamine Sailors Warning, one of the Reddit collab inks from this year (thanks to a Reddit friend for sending it to me). First thoughts: it’s not as shimmery as perhaps is ideal and it’s a somewhat dry ink which doesn’t help with shimmer either. I think one has to have the right pen for it, one which puts out a lot of ink, and this pen choice is not it.
