🎧 If I could scrape a few brain cells together, I'd tell y'all how this song reminds me of the 1994 "Neighborhood Association" meeting in my regular cafe on 16th Street when the one agenda item was whether to "brand" the area as "New Bohemia" with banners on light poles and that. I played "concerned citizen" for the fuck of it.

Me: "If you do that, we'll be overrun with tourists who've been told they're in #TheMission 'District!'"

I was looked askance at.

This is one of the first pictures I made when I picked up a camera with intention. I was chasing a guy I'd met in DC who lived in New Orleans, a young British lawyer named Paul.

Nothing came of that crush, but I made some pictures that week while he was at the office, walking the city with my camera.

I had a question about my Mom's Mom's baby sister, my great Aunt Letha. She knew the answer immediately, but then got her iPad out and opened her work @ Ancestry.com to answer a questions about (great) Uncle Elmer. He killed a man in bed with his wife. I posted about it last week.

It was a man sleeping with his GF (not Pearl) and it was Papa's brother, not Mama's.

We talked for an hour.
