My sister's cat was forced to move in with my parents and me Monday night. He went straight to the dark bedroom closet in the basement, the farthest he could possibly run after seeing three strangers. Ok, normal. But not normal is he's still in that closet. Probably scared shitless. Poor guy.

@ikbensiep I think that sounds pretty doable. A bot that mirrored RSS to Mastodon would be very easy, making it work natively less so but still sounds possible.

But I wouldn't want to move any of my #fraidycat follows over to Mastodon, because then I'd miss them some or most of the time! They fill different niches for me. It'd be like not getting my emails to an inbox, but instead having them show up in Mastodon - cool maybe, but I'd miss important ones pretty often.

also: I never used Google Reader because to me that nullified 90% of the benefit of RSS: it meant thaz Google knew exactly who's reading what, when RSS was designed to follow websites without registering.

Have always been using local readers built into e-mail clients etc.

More recently, #fraidycat has been one of my favourites -- including for some websites that don't provide RSS or Atom feeds.
