THROWBACK THURSDAY ART
Postwar Modern Exhibition at the Barbican March-June 2022. This monumental exhibition was an extraordinary homage to artists, many non-white, many of whom emigrated to Great Britain shortly after the War to make a life of art in the country that had colonised their own. Curator Jane Alison's eye was visionary.
My father F.N. Souza's art can be seen at 0'57" and in the final shot of the video.

On the wall, watercolour and gouache titled Ave Maria, by my father, F.N. Souza, who pioneered post-Independence modern Indian art with five other artists who formed the Progressive Artists Group in then Bombay in 1947. He is also considered an important British artist during the post-war years 1945-1965.
