The Last Wolf: The Hidden Springs of Englishness by Robert Winder
Recommended by Paul Kingsnorth, a favourite author.
I liked it, but it wasn't as good as I hoped. A lot of interesting ideas were raised but they weren't quite tied together to my satisfaction. It felt like a long, wandering magazine article.

In #Florida, the complaint of just 1 parent can get a book moved off a school library shelf. This week, a local bookstore gave away free copies of "The Hill We Climb" by Amanda Gorman, "The ABCs Of Black History" by Rio Cortez, & "Love To Langston" by Tony Medina, as a way to push back against #censorship in Florida schools. The #Freadom book giveaway was hosted by Books & Books, & paid for by Gorman & a local donor.

LibraryThing has a cool little feature that shows you, once you've catalogued your books, how tall they would be if stacked. My family's collection (in black) is apparently taller than even the tallest stone structure ever made (the Washington Monument)!

Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village by Maureen Johnson & Jay Cooper
Words try to be funny (but they're mostly not funny). Illustrations try to be Gorey-esque (but they're never as good as Gorey). The incident with the stamp was the best bit. Overall, far below my expectations.

How teachers and librarians are subverting book bans in the US https://flip.it/Bqb2LN
ββ¦book bans are part of a political repression campaign in this country, and we donβt respect that assault on basic democratic rights.β #freadom #censorship #lgbtq
A parent found that "The Bible" is full of stuff Utah's book-banning laws prohibit, and filed a formal complaint to have it removed
@courtcan I keep thinking that the politicians who want to ban books in schools are so out of touch they don't realize (or remember? were they ever children?) that telling a kid not to do something is one of the best ways to get them to do it.
Book bans are un-American
βBetween July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022, [Texas] experienced more than 800 book bans, the most of any state at the time.
In fact, during that time period, #Texas banned more than 30% of the total number of book bans for the entire country.β #freadom
