@hackernews can't we just use the term #freedomware ? I'm not an English native speaker, so I don't know whenever it has uncospicous meanings. For me it's just a feasible neologism for italian #SoftwareLibero 😃

@hackernews the lack of portability of proprietary software, on of its peculiarities retorts against proprietary hw makers. If you use #freedomware (aka #freesoftware) you could simply recompile it to get native performance

@sneak the saddest thing is that you can't run a #freedomware OS (aka #freeasinfreedom ). I would reconsider much of my reprovals that makes me #AvoidApple if they let me run Gnu/Darwin for example

I wonder if anyone has ever called #freedomware the software we usually call #freesoftware to avoid the misleading English word "free" that both means "related to freedom" and "gratis" as the 4 user freedoms stated in https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/philosophy.html aren't explicitly related to money
