While I was watching some #Doom videos by a youtuber called decino, I noticed he also made two videos about #FreeDoom. Some years ago, I found it to be a bit odd, out of place and creepy as fuck. Now, I'm planning to make some gameplays in extreme carnage difficulty, and maybe in mayhem! difficulty. And, obviously, spread the word about this 100% free and open source project. I would like to see mods for it, although some Doom mods are compatible too.

So finally I managed to edit and upload the tutorial on how to play the hottest Doom 2 mod of the year on Arch Linux.

If you really want a great horror experience that doesn't just try to spook you with jumpscares on every corner, get the mod, read the developer's journal for context, and play!

@talon Dunno If I did it right. Just downloaded latest Toby Doom 6.1, latest #GZDoom, and latest #FREEDoom wads from Github. Put the Mod and the Wads into my Documents/GZDoom/ folder and the GZDoom app into my applications folder. Then I put up a Bash script, running the executable from the GZDoom.app packet, using -file and the booth pk3 and Wad files as they are listed in the .lnk file, as we may use them under windows.

@rberger Fortunately, if you really want to play a game like Doom, #FreeDoom exists as a fully open source Doom game with no connection to that asshole.

Whoa, found out it's possible to play #FreeDoom from an app available on #fdroid! The best part: the app is very vanilla-like, so keyboard presses and mouse movement work as in the PC version. So if you have a USB-C adapter you can play just it almost natively!

Heh, at least I can play #FreeDoom on the Pi without lagging, but even a game that small seems to put quite a beating in the system load! I wonder what other games I can play on it with an acceptable experience. Perhaps plain AssaultCube? Or even Freedoom itself but in multiplayer?
