Any old freesound.org contributors here (past or present)? Please check if your #sounds are still licensed under CC Sampling+. Because this is an ancient license that has been retired ages ago because it creates a ton of legal problems which makes it practically useless for users.

I didn't contribute a ton of sounds to Freesound in 2022, but the ones I did were apparently pretty long. Mostly parades and crowds for whatever reason. I hope I feel more inspired to go out recording this year. Here's a recording of a sage grouse lek that I visited for the second year.

@ajroach42 #FreeSound still has quite a lot of permissively licensed audio. Might be a bit time consuming to separate the wheat from the chaff, but it's still my go-to spot for sound effects.

Here's another example of one of my samples leading to something pretty cool, despite the artist not giving credit and the label being pretty lame about it when I brought it up. The song Shimmer by Dauwd is centered around a few notes I played on my Rhodes. The sample is nothing much, but I'm glad it turned into something that I enjoy.

I'm not an artist. But I enjoy providing materials for people who are artists. One of the earlier ones I can remember was in 2011 when Alexander Chen used recordings I made of my old cello (recorded in my parents garage) for http://mta.me/ a sound/visualization of the NYC train system.
