Was honored to be a presenter at #ClueCon2023 this morning. The slides from my talk (Kamailio with FreeSWITCH B2BUA) have been posted to https://pgpx.io/cc2023 and includes links to the #Kamailio and #FreeSWITCH configs used in the presentation.

It's been sitting for an hour now. I can't tell its progress. It seems to not be progressing.
It's been sitting on "Building bullseye-amd64 debs..." for some time. I hope this is progress.
I don't know what changed since the last time I tried a couple months ago, but I think the FreeSWITCH packages are actually building this time.
I sure wish I was going to ClueCon next month. Trying to find a telecom company to hire me so I can justify the trip.

@nicoduck big fan of #FreeSwitch... which of course came as an answer to some issues asterisk was having at the time.
There's pros/cons for each of course. Personally, I'm running FreeSWITCH more often at this point.
Asterisk used to have a very strong community, but it's being suffocated which I believe will result in it's death.
In the past, Asterisk was very aggressive with any use of the word Asterisk outside of their use. (ie we had to rename Asterisk Users Conf to VUC.me) (Voice users)

Live now is FreeSWITCH Community Office Hours. I generally try to attend these. Always an enjoyable time.

#linphone all set up again on my mobile phone. Turns out the 488 was because it didn't like the SRTP negotiation from #freeswitch
I got a little closer to building the #FreeSwitch packages. I found an old README that led to some lines in the build script.
That led to me finding a function that checks what distro it's being built upon. For Debian, it's Sid, Stretch, and Jessie. They also have Ubuntu, but both versions are from 2014.
I'm doing all this building on a Linode, and I only have access to Stretch. During the build, I got into the chroot, but it failed shortly after a pbuilder update failed.
Making the third attempt to build the #FreeSwitch #debian packages. It reaches a point where it says "Building buster-amd64 debs..." and doesn't log anything after that.
There are 4 processes of the build script running and they are using no CPU and very little memory.
I really like #FreeSWITCH, but I'm not keen on them making me sign up for a Signalwire account to use the package repo. What's more, their documentation also say that you need the package repo to build it.
I doubt I'll go through the effort of hunting down every library to build from scratch, but I might try my hand at building the packages and host them myself.
@danjenkins @vinzens I had a lot of issues with REFER handling itself (and reporting of call info) and ended up having to do a ton of handling in #kamailio — using #freeswitch as a sip only b2bua wasn’t my ideal choice but sped up deployment, reduced cost, and just worked.
@vinzens i tried for a while and then gave up and used a #FreeSWITCH as a sip only b2bua before it since it handles refers quite simply.
