Having said all that, the awkwardness with wich the series had to imply the existence and importance of #Wimbledon, without being allowed to actually say it, was pretty entertaining. We had SW19, The championships, and epithets galore, but the W word was strictly off-limits. Not sure why; the #FrenchOpen was mentioned in every other sentence in the opening episode, as were other tournaments like the Open Sud de France.

Before play began on #Wimbledon Centre Court today, we had a special ceremony introducing the sporting stars of past and present in the Royal Box.

The biggest ovation, by far, came for legendary BBC tennis host and former #FrenchOpen champion Sue Barker ❤️
