Exports to the USA grew by 70%, making it the second largest export market for calvados after Germany. A group of calvados producers will be participating in Bar Convent Brooklyn in New York on 13 and 14 June.

Calvados has been pinging on my radar a lot recently, turning up at drinks trade events and so on. I’ve always had a soft spot for it but remember back in the day (e.g. ‘90s) it came with a sharp edge. Maybe I was unlucky back then, or maybe the general standard has indeed risen over the years, but I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve tried recently.

Am now sniffing about for a story to write on it, ideally with a sustainability angle.
