Due to an earlier discussion on #Asstodon regarding good practice for milking donkeys, I was prompted to read the Donkey Sanctuary booklet "Dairy Donkeys."

I was unfamiliar with this, but as with other advice produced by the DS, this booklet is useful to any donkey keeper: there is a huge amount of information about diet, hoof care, and general health matters, as well as foal welfare advice.

Sudan is in the news for all the wrong reasons, and during the fighting our thoughts are with the many charity workers helping this developing country.

Much of the agricultural work and water transportation involves donkeys, like ploughing seen here. Equine charity thebrooke.org works with Vetérinaires Sans Frontiéres Suisse (VSF) in south Sudan and have jointly produced a comprehensive manual for donkeys, "Donkeys for Tillage"

The Museum of Carrots is in the village of Berlotte, on the German-Belgian frontier. It is housed in a small tower and visitors can see the carrot-related exhibits through a window. The display rotates when a button is pressed.

Update on wash day! Having washed Matilde's winter blanket and managed to get it dry indoors by a log fire, I thought she'd like to have it on nice and warm!

Nope. I had to chase her around the field three times and tie her up as she didn't want it back on her at all.

Next time I'll avoid saying, "Come here Matilde: lovely warm blankie!" because that seems to provoke a donkey panic. 🙄
