Late again with the #FridayNightCocktail so late it’s a #SaturdayNightCocktail. This one’s called a Jasmine.
45ml Dry Gin
22.5ml fresh lemon
7.5ml Campari
7.5ml Cointreau
5ml simple syrup (2-1 sugar-water)
Shake over ice and strain into an appropriately sized glass.
Super fresh and gin forward. Tastes like what you think a gin and bitter lemon should taste like but better. Pretty pink too, which is nice.

Apologies for the shit photo in advance I cooked pasta tonight and the tomatoes splashed a little. Nonetheless, don’t let it put you off this drink. Tonight’s #FridayNightCocktail is a Black Widow. Guess what we’ve put on for a film tonight?
30ml golden rum,
15 ml Bourbon,
5-10ml 2-1 simple syrup
45ml fresh lemon.
Shake over ice and strain into a coup glass.
Super tart so modify the simple as you like. The bourbon adds a subtle complexity that’s very welcome.
Good evening peeps it’s time for another #FridayNightCocktail apologies in advance for the lack of photos, my kitchens a mess. Tonight’s drink is “Damn The Weather”’ 45ml Gin, 30ml fresh orange juice, 22.5ml Martini Roso, 7.5ml Cointreau. Soft as you would expect from an OJ based drink but with lovely floral and bitter notes that complement the Gin beautifully. Shake over ice and strain into a coup of choice.
Second #FridayNightCocktail because 1 is never enough is the Bacardi! Not just a rum distillery but a cocktail! Who knew?
The Bacardi cocktail is 60ml Bacardi, 15ml lime, 7.5ml grenadine, 10ml simple syrup. Sweet/sour to start but with a solid punchy rum finish.
Far more grown up than you’d imagine from the ingredients list. Easy to make, looks super flashy and that, tastes ace, why aren’t you making one right now?
Ladies and Germs it’s time for another #FridayNightCocktail. This is an Irn Bru Daiquiri. Probably one for the Brit’s in the crowd. Usual Daiquiri ratios but instead of simple you use a 4x Irn Bru reduction. It tastes fir all the world like lime ice lollies (lime calipos for the initiated). I’ve made this with Wray and Nephew overproof white rum because I had some but Bacardi does this fine.
Genuinely a Time Machine taking me back to 90s summers.
Missed #FridayNightCocktail god damn it. To make up for it I’m making a batch of mulled apple cider. 1l of good cloudy apple juice, 1l of good cider (hard cider for readers in the colonies, 1/2 an orange sliced up, 2tsp of fresh grated ginger, 5cm stick of cinnamon, 3 cloves, 2 whole star anise, a good grating of nutmeg and a bay leaf. Put in a low heat and bring to a simmer. Turn off the heat and strain into a mug fortified with rum and maple syrup to taste. Grand stuff.
Tonight’s #FridayNightCocktail is an oldy but Goldy. It’s a Jungle Bird. Pineapple, lime juice, rum, Campari and simple. I serve it in a jam jar because I didn’t t have a big enough glass, but a jam jar is big enough and doesn’t leak so it’s exactly good enough for the job at hand.
It’s been a couple of weeks since the last one but I’m back with another #FridayNightCocktail. This one is a Li’l Devil and it certainly lives up to its name. I make it with a dash of ango but it’s still punchy AF, you know you’ve had some lovely booze with this one. Enjoy.
A teeny weeny #fridaynightcocktail with a long work weekend ahead, watched over by an insane Alfie the Pom! I honestly think he’d give the martini a go if I was willing to share (I’m not!!).
Cheers 🍸
Final #FridayNightCocktail is a Margarita. When I’m making them for myself I do not salt the rim, I just add a pinch of salt to the mix before mixing. Less classy but a better drink.
@arclight cocktails are something i got good at since lockdown. It's like cooking but easier, more immediate and at the end you have a glass of booze. Ive made more than 50 individual drinks in the last year so plan to make #FridayNightCocktail a regular post
It’s #FridayNightCocktail round 2. This little beauty is a Li’l Devil. A delightful white Rum, Gin, Cointreau , lemon and simple syrup concoction that I happen to enjoy with a day of Angostura bitters. Even with the simple it comes across quite dry and tart. Make one and enjoy.
I do love a #FridayNightCocktail and here is the first of this evenings, a Larchmont. I didn’t have any Grand Marnier so substituted Cointreau and a touch more simple. It’s basically a Daiquiri variant with an orange twist that comes through buttery and rounded.
Phew…that was a long week! Not a bad week, just a long week which felt more like 12 days than 5!
Prompt #fridaynightcocktail #negroni to the rescue to speed into the weekend!
Cheers to fellow Friday night cocktailers!
