Friday Song!
I am going to start something here that I do on my work chat channel and used to do on the bird site... Friday Song drops.
Post a link to a song/snippet of a song that sort of summarized my week.
Random Friday Thought/Friday Song: If *everybody* was Kung Fu fighting, how did Carl Douglas and his band avoid getting hit while singing? Expert timing, I guess.
What a great way to start a Friday!
I’m driving to work, minding my own business, when this song comes on the radio. I nearly hurt myself reaching for the volume knob.
It’s got a great beat & you can dance to it, plus Skunk Baxter’s guitar work is dazzling.

Since my head was already in a good place after hearing the Doobie Brothers on the radio, this masterpiece that came on as I got close to home kicked me fully in to Friday relaxation mode. In heavy rotation on MTV back in my college days, the song and video always give me chills. I will ALWAYS turn Ultravox “Reap The Wild Wind” up as loud as my speakers can stand.

Today’s getting-off-work-on-a-Friday-crank-it-up-and-sing-along song is a Big 80s on 8 Treasure Chest song from 1989. I’ve always loved the Doobie Brothers, but the era when they were the darlings of Adult Contemporary radio had worn thin. I saw them live on their farewell tour, missing the rockin’ good ol’ days. I was ecstatic the first time I heard “The Doctor” with that classic Doobies sound.

I needed a Friday song to fold laundry by (glamorous, I know), and dialed up a song that always gets cranked up when it comes on the radio. It’s great for singing along and just drowning in the thundering horns. From 1969, Simon & Garfunkel’s “Keep the Customer Satisfied.”

Your Friday gets a LOT better when you get out of work, jump in the car, and the first bars of THIS song come out of your radio.
