Yesterday I noticed that a new version of #fritzing has been released. Ok, it was released in June, so I am a little late to the party...

I like fritzing, so a v1.0 release really excited me!

My wife, however, could not understand my excitement (or the software) at all. Oh well, each to their own...

@silvermoon82 @korgmatose I think Fritzing is great, but then I use it only for the breadboard layouts. Then I discovered curved wires (hold the ctrl key) - now they are in all my layouts!

Done! My "Blank to Blink" minimal #Arduino project is finished. I put a blank #ATMega328P on a breadboard, got an #Uno bootloader into it and then download the #blink sketch, and it all worked! Yahoo!! 🥳

@Fizzychicken cool indeed! I go bb to pcb and wish more tools (beside #fritzing) treated it first class.

@PossiblyMax hey, all good! That's just an off-the-shelf Pro Micro clone, but I've taught myself enough of the basics with #Fritzing to design and buy my own simple circuit boards. Anything that's grey or white is a 3d printed part of my own design, bespoke for this project. The buttons are arcade buttons for custom fightpads and sticks, modified for a lower profile fit. And then there's a mix of screws, threaded inserts and other hardware to hold it all together.

Imagine a text processor in which you can't just type the text you want, but instead you have to select each word from a set of searchable dictionaries, created by other users and sorted by whatever categories made sense to them at the time. Once you finish, you then go over each word and assign a font style to it, one by one. Then you can finally go ahead and place each word, one by one, on the page to be printed.

That's exactly how using #KiCad feels to me, coming from #Fritzing.

How do I download #fritzing without paying for it?

Hi, I'm not a developer, but a "power" user. As user, I run #manjaro as every day OS, and I use #appimage for #freecad and #fritzing, just as it's more simple as pamac + all deps need or AUR complied. Download #appimage, click, on first run it copy itself in ~/Applications and an entry on your DE menu. Next launch it as regular application. Sure if you delete ~/Application, don't be surprise if you delete Applications ;-) ...
