personal suggestion involving CWs and hashtags

Settler-colonials, before you @ me, ask yourself: will this get me blocked? The answer is: probably.

Speaking only for myself, I suggest non-Indigenous people use hashtags and/or CWs when sharing articles or your opinions on voice to parliament/referendum.

Being forced to see centralists & white moderates' views on this topic on the birdsite was already getting unbearable. Some First Nations people are intending to have a social media break once a referendum is called, for our wellbeing and safety.

Many of you apply content warnings to political and controversial subjects that others feel difficult to read, or even traumatic. IMHO this respect for others should be applied to this particular issue.

(Of course, CWs should never be enforced on historically and/or marginalised peoples posting about their ancestors' & own lived experiences)

If you use hashtags, we can choose to mute your article-sharing and discussions. Such as:

Terms like vote yes and referendum are harder to hashtag, as they also refer to unrelated, global movements.

Hashtags will allow us to filter out some unwanted content, but puts the burden on Indigenous people. So, I suggest non-Indigenous people use CWs warnings.
Clearly labelled, to allow people to opt out of viewing your posts.

For my own wellbeing, I'll be muting or blocking accounts that don't use hashtags or CWs for this issue.
