You know what, I'm fine with that if we build an entirely new place that comprehensively chronicles what white settlers did to Indigenous Australians. We put it in the Parliamentary Triangle so that every busload of tourists and school kids sees and visits it. It should exist and have a clear, prominent, and important place of its own.
In my ideal world, it's an entirely new place that chronicles not only the Frontier Wars but also the arrival of First Nations people to this land, their culture, creativity, art, music, stories, and history from the beginning up to today. And it should be curated by and staffed by First Nations people.
We should have a nationally important place to tell the story of Indigenous Australians.

@shoq and it isn't just in the #usa it's all over. #Australia's has been going since 1788. The #longest #war in history which we call the #FrontierWars. Still #executed by police and #prison officers with over 500 #DeathsInCustody in 30 years.

Something has to give or what is our worth to #humanity if we can't live side by side and all grow together.

Gordon Bennett what a train wreck that interview was with Kim Beazley on the 7.30 report. He's the new chairman of the #AustralianWarMemorial, and he's in his element... unfortunately. He's always loved the trappings of war but this was next level. Unapologetic about the massive expansion, the theme park, the planes and tanks. #FrontierWars got a mention but I'm not optimistic. Strap in folks, things are not going to improve!

And I'm reflecting on how police (the State, colonisers) and settlers (colonisers) both used/didn't use British laws to be violent towards Aboriginal people. And how a version of those same laws are still being used/not used to excuse settler & State violence towards Aboriginal people.
