@whitekiba Personally I just want to have a "#FrugalComputing" distro that at least works as an #SSH "#ThinClient" or #Terminal...

But sadly I really hit a brick wall getting stuff optimized so that I can fit the absolute bare minimums in there...

After all, I just want a minimal #Linux that offers me a #Terminal and can run #dropbear as #SSH client and let the #toybox do the boring userland housekeeping.

@wim_v12e @jam Note that in some cases we need to invent new ways to be frugal, as the heroic designs of yesterday, while worthy of study, tended to be tightly coupled and other constraints that resulted in poor composability and meant few people could contribute.

We must invent new architectures that are frugal while open to diverse contributions; I think Rust and async/await in general are good steps in that direction. #FrugalComputing

Just spent some time adding a new Frugal Mode to #Fedigardens, which allows you to limit resource usage with the flip of a switch. It's been something I've wanted to add for a while, but didn't get to it.

Idea inspired by @wim_v12e's article on #FrugalComputing for developers.

Currently transferring a bunch of #MPEG2 #videos from my #Plex #server to my #chromebook because the chromebook has a faster #CPU for transcoding to #HEVC format because I'm running out of space on my 3TB external hard drive. Unfortunately the server is so old that it only has #USB 2.0 ports so the transfers are taking forever. 😑
