So while my gaming group figures out the next big campaign in a world without DnD, we have decided to do some one shot campaigns with each of us running our favorite system, or just playing out an old story never realized. So far we will be playing a WoD Changeling game, Pathfinder 2e, Cyberpunk Red, Star Trek and Wasteland. Each game should last about 4 sessions. I don't have a way to verify this but it's pretty interesting. I already submitted a complaint to WotC and set my subscription to cancel on expiry and have received acknowledgment.

Financially this does make sense. There is ZERO power in a boycott where you don't tell them you're boycotting them and why. Think about it, they can't read your minds! :)

I don't really care too much what people play, so long as they stop supporting Hasbro financially.

If anyone wants advice on how to draw resistant groups out of the comfort zone/ lifestyle of D&D, I have some experience and suggestions.

Welp, the actual OGL 1.1 text is in the wind and it’s as bad as indicated over the past few days.

Essentially as is, if you don’t agree to the OGL 1.1 by January 13, ALL OGL products cannot be sold and you have to stop distributing.

Or that’s what WotC is trying to do.

#ttrpg designers, do you get existential dread that a possible best case scenario for one of your games being a huge success (wide scale name recognition, hundreds of thousands of players, decades-long legacy, etc.) is that after your long dead, a company will eventually try to squeeze every penny possible out of your brain child, in order to please shareholders?

Definitely makes me feel better about intentionally designing for small communities/targeted demographics.

Maybe have a look at http://blog.trilemma.com/2022/12/legally-odd-ogl-section-9.html?m=1 which points out that contracts where one party can unilaterally alter the terms and conditions retroactively isn't one that someone would sign and therefore is not an interpretation favoured by the courts.

I suspect Hasbro is attempting to destroy the OGL as a secondary goal to ensuring only they can sell NFTs.
