Today’s fountain pen is another Jinhao 82. This time with a fude nib. No. 5 fude nibs are great because they’re small enough that you can still write (almost) normally with them. That is, if you enjoy writing really big. 😬

Once you start with the fude nibs, it prompts you to think you should get one for each of the ink jars in your drawer.

I've probably mentioned this before - I've about a dozen now, almost all under $100. I keep 5-6 inked up and cycle thru one a day. Once one empties, I ink up the next empty pen in line with the next ink - I have about 12 inks too. It's fun. Most of my pens are .3-,5 mm, except for a nib my son got me. That writes more like a brush at times. My daughter now uses fountain pens at work - is it spreading?

-My son gave me this one for Christmas, it's by Asvine/Hongdian, and is a bent nib, a ''.Very interesting to write with, as with the varying width my writing looks more like brush strokes.
I added it to my collection. I already have about a dozen pens and a dozen inks. Pens are all under $100 I think. I rotate thru all pens and inks eventually, and use them in my daily journal, a Leuchtteurm 1917. Plain paper, 120 gm so there is no bleeding/ghosting.
My grocery lists are just scrawled on an old envelope with a ballpoint.

The first this year: ! This is the second year that @glitch25 and I have split this one as a shared gift.

I've decided to use my with the nib as a dip pen for samples this year, because I like the line variation with it better than my glass dip pen. It holds a ton of ink in the feed when I do it this way! That also lets me see the shimmer/sheen properties of the ink better.

Another recent effort of the Pantheon.
This was following another YT tutorial, this time from Peter Trúchly on YT as WeAreFamilyArt
It's a mixture of DS and W&N tube colours on a cotton block, which has a great texture.
Line drawn with a nibbed fountain pen, bought from for the princely sum of £3.78, including two standard nibs. Platinum Carbon ink.

@ilovefountainpens Exactly: I draw/sketch with fountain pen and water-proof ink first, then apply color.

My first watercolor sketches were the reverse (because I didn't have water-proof ink), but then the paint went all over the place and the outlines didn't match :)

My findings:

– LAMY Safari works great with thicker ink: e.g. SketchInk

– Jinhao and pens work with thinner ink for longer, e.g. DeAtramentis

- Noodlers ink can clog up pretty quickly :)
