#Tepco’s been emphasizing the safety of contaminated water by measuring with incompatible dosimeters
by Mochizuki, #FukushimaDiary, November 3, 2022
"It was found out Tepco has repeatedly been emphasizing the safety of contaminated water by using dosimeters that cannot detect the radioactive tritium and that do not react to cesium unless the concentration level is extremely high.
"Nature of the water to be discharged to the Pacific is the filtered highly-concentrated contaminated water generated by cooling the nuclear fuel that has melted down into the reactor at least twice, and is announced to contain only tritium. Tritium cannot be removed even with decontamination equipment.
"However During the demonstration to the press, a dosimeter that detects only extremely high levels of gamma rays was applied to a bottle containing the contaminated water, which showed no detection. Since July 2020. TEPCO has been repeating this performance to about 1,300 groups and 15,000 people."

180 times much as #radioactive #cesium detected in fish from #Fukushima #nuclear plant port
via #FukushimaDiary
"On the 5th of June, 2023, #Tepco announced they detected 18,000 Bq/Kg of radioactive cesium from Black rockfish collected in the port of the crippled nuclear plant of Fukushima.
"This is 180 times much as the current food safety standard (100 Bq/Kg).
"Moreover, the detected 18,000 Bq/Kg of radioactive cesium consists of Cs-134 and Cs-137.
"The half-life of Cs-134 is up to 2 years, nevertheless this black rockfish contained 380 Bq/Kg of Cs-134. Tepco has not publicly made an announcement regarding the detection of Cs-134."
