I got a .. it's great but apparently full frame has less depth of field, surprisingly plus the lenses are more expensive... should I have got an aps-c instead .. the is big .. I'm attracted to but the development costs seem prohibitive... so I was looking for a way to do that digitally.. I figured full frame was better because the is larger.

I was deeply thinking of buying a Sigma dp2 Merrill cuz the sensors look truly cool. But for overall use, I decided on a Sony A7ii. It was a toss up with a Nikon D750, which is probably a better camera. I'm sure I'll get a lot out of the Sony, regardless. Part two of correiense ( Belladonna L.) in bloom. orientation so toot preview won't do it justice. Slightly edited to correct perspective, otherwise (very nearly) & untouched. Lens used this time was Yashica ML 50mm f/1.7 with fully open aperture. Two external Godox guns, one above the Amaryllis, the other slightly from the side of the camera. I tried other positions, but I liked in this shot the most.

Artsy of windowsill correiense ( Belladonna L.) in bloom in front of a calendar. Trying out my new tripod I got for a steal on eBay auctions.

Illuminated using two off-cam Godox V860IIc guns. I was too lazy to change lenses since my out-of-the-window birding today, so this was done using same Soligor stack on a body as my Blackbird photo earlier today.

As you can see, there was no need to change the lenses. Exceptional sharpness, clean , suitable depth of field, beautiful and faithful colours, great contrast (no boost there!) and no optical aberrations to speak of. This is Jpeg.

FWIW the lens stack I used for this and many, many other photos I take cost me about 100€ including a multicoated teleconverter with built-in macro-focusing helicoid, very good but equally inexpensive UV filter, an anodized aluminum lens hood and all lens caps, front and back. They even came in a nice faux-leather padded pouch and desiccant bags. And the stack takes tack sharp and aberration-free photos at focal lengths from 28 to 400mm (i.e. a 14.3x zoom) and can do 1:1 macro! Take that [insert any brand that would like you to sell your house, your left kidney, and your firstborn son to buy one with similar performance off them]! 😜 🤘🏽

is notoriously difficult to photograph right (because their "structural colour" feathers do some polarization magic that makes them less contrasty on film or a digital sensor than as seen with our own eyes) and I wasn't making it any easier on me when I took this shot, and through the multi-pane in soft light and using a fairly heavy stack with no optical stabilization. Still, out of 4 shots I took, 2 came out well enough to fix in post. This is one of them.

Lens stack I used was the same as last week's / : Soligor C/D 28-200mm f/3.8-5.5 MC at 200mm f/5.6 and also a Soligor C/D7 (aka MC7 or 7-element multi-coated) Macro Focusing 2x . Thus, effective f-stop of 11 and focal length of 400mm, but a bit less light available so ISO-400 this time around. Shot using a body with at 1/160s and electronic shutter to reduce in-body vibration.

Eurasian collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto) through the window. Came out alright I think despite the triple pane glass, but it took a bit of editing to get there. Shot using long stack comprising of a Soligor C/D 28-200mm f/3.8-5.5 MC lens and also a Soligor C/D7 macro focusing 2x teleconverter. Combined focal length of 400mm used at effective f/11, ISO-320, 1/160s , -2/3EV on a body with .
