Heute spontan Kai-Eric Fitzners #WordPress Website https://mondspiegel.de auf den technisch neuesten Stand gebracht und dabei gleich nach seinen Wünschen in #FullSiteEditing redesignt. Ist jetzt viel freundlicher als das alte düstere Layout. #TwentyTwentyThree #BlockThemes #BlockEditor Und das Arbeiten mit FSE macht echt Spaß! Dabei hab ich noch lange nicht alle Möglichkeiten ausprobiert.

Spent the last few months trying to find my way around #Wordpress #FullSiteEditing and it sucks.

There's so much that can go wrong, and since styling now is done with json, but then again not with json really, finding out what went wrong is next to impossible.

There's settings all over the place, and knowing which one takes precedence is impossible. Half of the inline CSS is !important, but still contradicts itself.

And they've updated page templates from 6.1 to 6.2, breaking all custom templates without warning.

Fonts load fine, then suddenly doesn't, even if I didn't change my code.

For sensible defaults, you need another plugin, but suddenly that plugin adds it's own tweaks in an update and breaks your site.

And I'm not really a webdeveloper, I just maintain a website, and wanted to update it.

Just saw a demo of WP Engine's Pattern Manager beta (Mike McAlister's team) and it's a game changer.

Brian Gardner explicitly stated there's an open invite to request small group demos for anyone who wants to see it in action. I'd take him up on it, this is a huge efficiency for freelancers and agencies.

Good review of Twenty Twenty Three, describin the style variations, typefaces, fluid typography and spacing.

Conclusion is this:

Couldn't agree more. TT3 is a pretty base to learn FSE.

Have you ever tried something over and over again until it clicks? That was me creating a front page template to work with a static front page in a FSE WordPress theme.

Having succeeded once, it (now) makes sense and would take no time to do again.
