David Tuller DrPH continues to pursue and correct a false claim over-representing the prevalence of #FunctionalNeurologicalDisorder (#FND). The authors of a paper containing this claim in the journal NeuroImage: Clinical had agreed to correct it, but then changed their mind. The journal invited Tuller et al to instead write a letter which he shares in his article

Last summer, I was diagnosed with #functionalneurologicaldisorder, which, at only 25, made me wonder what my future could look like. For some reason, the one thing that helped my body & mind work “normally” was acting. There isn’t enough research to determine why, but my neurologist & I decided to do an experiment: I would audition for a play. And for the first time in ages, I felt like myself. Reading this review has helped me realize that disabled or not, we can still kick butt.

I will say if they think writing curses and “just stop” will deter me, I wouldn’t be an out #trans #physician, now would I?

This past Friday I was diagnosed with #FND / #functionalneurologicaldisorder and still trying to navigate the diagnosis. I also have #scheuermannsdisease which has damaged my spinal cord and caused a bunch of other issues.
On the fun side of things, my wife and I moved to Rockford, IL in September with our two #bostonterrier. I enjoy #gaming on the #xbox, #switch, and #PS5. Would love to connect with some mutuals. Thanks!
