#parenting is hard & at times terrifying. Being a #fundie robbed me of chances to just accept & enjoy my kids. I was always on alert for disobedience, infractions, etc. I would parent SO differently now. I’m glad I got out & none of us buy into religion anymore - and that my kids still love me & want me in their lives. Just had it confirmed my #fundie parents are holding the position that I'm not ill ( #pwme 30+yrs) & I'm responsible for my sister's divorce from an abusive husband, i.e. "the situation wasn't that bad" It's just that I was in the vicinity w my truthspeak. I just. Really? Still? I wonder if I'll ever not be blown away by such. What happens is I tell myself they felt that way at moments in the past when they were in a dark place, refusing to see so many things. But overall, they know the truth. Ha. They fabricate narratives to hide behind. And that won't ever change. You'd think it would quit making my heart race. Like come on, body, this is nothing new. O.o

Five years ago this week it was six weeks until a city election and a proposition for a #northcarolina style bathroom bill -- an #antitrans measure some #fundie #wingnuts managed to get on the ballot. Protests took various forms. I've learned that fundies do not like looking ridiculous -- this man stood on a busy corner for two hours with a gang of protesters doing just that. What's it like to be exfundie? Well, think about the feelings of joy and nostalgia you get listening to some emo or punk band from high school and then imagine only being able to access that feeling by listening to Keith Green. #exvangelical #fundie

@Gladiator Friendly reminder that just because she thinks insurrection is cool when her demigod loses doesn't mean she caused the blackouts in Moore County.

There's lots of reprehensible people out there, but let's make sure we're ascribing the correct actions to the correct people. The fact that the media is trying to connect her with the outage for saying something any #fundie would say is messed up.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not going to demonize someone without evidence.

Fundamentalist Christianity asks its adherents to go along with their agenda, without question. "Hand us the reigns to your life. Don't worry, don't ask." And yet, they're surprised when young adults who grew up #fundie easily hand their reigns to other people, systems, and worldviews.
