Getting nowhere with this #FungiID . Growing under planted poplars, UK, on a sports ground. Huge! Over 30cm across. Irregular shape perhaps as a result of early damage? Stipe about 6cm? Distinctive tesselated surface. Firm and tough flesh. Could not get a look at underside, which seemed to be dark brown, possibly gills. Doh! I was in a hurry, should have looked properly. #fungi
