Women seen fitting out the fuselage of a DH Mosquito. It is safe to say that without a strong effort by the female workforce of Great Britain, Canada and Australia, the De Havilland Mosquito would not have become the war-winning aircraft that it did. Women undertook highly skilled work in the manufacturing sector, maintained the aircraft wearing uniform, and delivered the planes to the frontline in Europe, as members of the Air Transport Auxiliary. The port and starboard fuselage shells will soon be mated together, and the build completed. #WW2 #women #womenatwar #war #DeHavilland #DH98 #Mosquito #fuselage #AirTransportAuxiliary #RAF #SeconWorldWar #avgeek #history #UK #Canada #Australia #aircraft #warplane

Avro Ashton 2 (formerly a piston-engined Avro Tudor 2). This #fuselage section, displayed at Newark Air Museum, is a rare #artefact from the earliest days of jet travel. Powered by four #RollsRoyce Nene #jet engines, it was a research #aircraft intended to launch a generation of jet #airliners. Imho, it deserves to be housed inside a suitable display building. #aviation #airtransport #technology #history #photography #travel
