Planning on adding a couple more things, tweaking some transitions, and also using images instead of SVG filters. Extremely cool to create a rock texture with code, but with the new interactions on the page it's just too slow.

Whoa! #Futhark #compiler's INTERMEDIATE languages are TYPED and are checked after every pass!

All 40+ of them ...

It has been a great help in catching otherwise-very-difficult-to-find correctness bugs, where incorrect code is generated.

The feasibility trick is that they're all subsets of the source language.

an update on the #Futhark story: this was a bug in a compiler, it’s now fixed (in, like, 2 hours after report, which is really impressive! thanks to athas), I was able to compile my solution in multicore mode and it doesn’t help (in fact, runtime increased by about 20%)

this is weird, since I thought that the largest part of my workload is map over 4 million elements array, which should parallelize well. I have some ideas why it didn’t, which I plan to investigate later

also athas provided a link to his solution of the same task, which looks much more elegant. I should look into that too.
