The implication that brain-machine interfaces haven't happened yet reminds me of Kevin Warwick of the University of Reading.

Which of course brings up the point that people have been telling us that we are on the cusp of a bright science-fiction future where computers massively augment or modify the human body, since at least the 1970s.
