Hi friends, help me find a toot? There was some instance that was participating in #FuzzyFridays or #Febluary and, in the toot, they shared the code they'd used to apply a dashed/dotted border to an image.

Specifically, it included code for videos, maybe gifs, and essentially things other than photos. Help me find it? I thought I'd bookmarked it to add to my Stylus but now it's nowhere to be found. #AltText

What will change?

There will be a blur added to any images lacking alt text and will unblur on hover.

What does this mean?

It means that any images accessed on Oliphant.social *without* ALT text will be blurry.

This only affects oliphant.social web users.

As I see the @Vivaldi toot about #FuzzyFridays...

Overall, I will try to do better at adding a description to my pictures for the visually impaired. I've already been trying to do that but, sometimes, I'm in a hurry or just forget. This will be a good reminder for me to do better.

However, I must say that, for my #Vintage advertisement posts, it's darn near impossible for me to describe them much less transcribe the text. Those will mostly have to do without extra text.

Vivaldi Social will be participating in #FuzzyFridays throughout the month of February, to highlight the importance of alt text on images for people with visual impairments. Every Friday of the month we'll be adding a snippet of CSS to our code which will blur images without alt-text. The blur will be removeable by hovering over the image.

February is Low Vision Awareness Month, and there's some CSS I can add to our instance for #FuzzyFridays

But I want to get some feedback from folks on THIS instance (vis.social) about participating in this Accessibility awareness effort...Just on Fridays, just in Feb.

We'll be participating in #FuzzyFridays this February to highlight the importance of alt text on images for the vision impaired users of the fediverse. Every Friday throughout Feb we'll be adding a snippet of CSS to our code that will slightly blur any images without alt-text.

(We understand that adding alt text isn't always possible for those low on spoons etc. - this is to encourage people who *can* spare the time and energy to consider alt-text.)
