3. Make the site democratic. Allow special interest groups to form, have a list of features that users can vote on, online have conferences where people can mingle.

Social media should be focused on building community, allowing us to magnify what we want and vote down what we dont want. We are rapidly approaching a time when organizing for action will be essential. We need the means sooner than later IMO.

Mastodon has great potential IMO. I've been a software designers for 30 years so, FWIW:
1. Make it user-funded, even at $2/mo because w/out resources, it'll be difficult/slow to implement great design.
2. End moderation & implement trust scores so we can self moderate. If 2 friends want to exchange barbs, no offense intended. Moderation interferes w/that. Two strangers exchanging barbs is something else. Trust scores would allow users to flag people w/bad intent & it scales up!

I recreated my account with the exact same info… makes me think the auth token was tied to the user id instead of the user name. Just guessing tho.
