Went out and bought myself a new toy today.

I start recording final guitar overdubs tomorrow for the new record, and I wanted an extra option for dirt. So I bought this Fender Pugilist Distortion pedal, which has excellent blend and tone, as well as a nice nasty growl.
I tried it out in store through the same rig that I use, which is an Orange 🍊 Dual Terror DT30H through a PPC 212 and it sounded great.
Very satisfied.

Some of these old Japan-designed effects pedals (I've seen examples from Ibanez and Loco Box/Coron/Frontline) fascinate me: they have circuit boards with extra holes and tracks, so multiple effects share the same board depending on which positions are populated. I can't imagine how complicated it was to design these things, especially before CAD tools, and I don't understand why chose that instead of the much simpler option of designing one board per circuit.

I’ve created an absolute monster.

My boy came to me today + asked “Dad, do you have any pedals?”
To which I responded “I’m a songwriter + guitar player son. Of course.”
“Can I try some?”

I then proceeded to show him my 50+ pedals, taking him thru what each one does, + which work well with one another.

That was 4 hours ago.
He’s still at it.
Guitar, bass, electric uke, synth; all routed through a variety of odd circuitry enough to make any kid’s head explode.
